Concrete Structure Design

Precast concrete modelling and detailing

Precast building structures applies precast concrete components of various sizes and shapes, which are manufactured in specialized companies. The precast concrete components are later transported to the construction site where they are assembled by cranes, which will lift the precast elements to their final position. For the purpose of precast production, transportation and construction it is required to prepare structural design calculations and detailed drawings for production of each precast component, and for the construction of elements into a building.

Advanced BIM-based precast concrete modelling and detailing for prefabrication and fast installation can now be used by any construction project. AEC Prefab includes planning and design of pre-cast building components for any building, often in combination with steel and wood structures. This makes it possible for any construction company to design their specific building using prefab methods, and the surrounding industry to compete about the project deliveries.

Our end-to-end BIM-based structural precast modelling and precast concrete detailing services include precast modelling and construction, framing prefabrication, precast shop drawings, bar bending schedules, logistics planning and preparations for construction at building site.

Prefab modelling and detailing of simple or complex concrete structures

AEC Prefab assist engineering consultants, contractors and precast manufacturers to design, visualize, simulate, and document construction projects through accurate detailing of walls, beams, slabs, columns, stairs or balconies.

We design project-specific foundation designs, load calculations, frame designs, retaining wall designs, concrete structure modelling and associated manufacturing and construction drawings. We specialize in precast concrete modelling and pre-fabrication services for demanding structural projects.

Floor & Roof Slabs

Solid slab: A solid slab is a type of slab that is made of one solid piece of concrete. They are commonly used in construction as floor and roof slabs. They are strong, durable and can be designed to meet specific requirements such as fire resistance, sound insulation and thermal insulation. They are typically reinforced with steel or other materials to increase their strength and stability.

Hollow core slab: A Hollow core slab is a type of precast, prestressed concrete slab that is commonly used in construction as floor and roof slabs. They are made with long hollow cores running through the length of the slab that reduce the weight of the slab and provides insulation. These slabs are easy to install and can be designed to meet specific requirements such as fire resistance, sound insulation and thermal insulation.

Precast Beams & Columns

Precast beams: Precast beams are structural elements that are made of concrete and are fabricated in a factory before being transported to the construction site for installation. These beams are typically used in construction as load-bearing elements in floors and roofs. They can be reinforced with steel or other materials to increase their strength and stability. They are typically designed to meet specific requirements such as fire resistance, sound insulation, and thermal insulation.

Precast columns: Precast columns are vertical structural elements that are made of concrete and are fabricated in a factory before being transported to the construction site for installation. These columns are typically used in construction as load-bearing elements in floors, walls, and roofs. They can be reinforced with steel or other materials to increase their strength and stability. They are typically designed to meet specific requirements such as fire resistance, sound insulation, and thermal insulation.

Precast Wall Panels

Sandwich wall: A sandwich wall is a precast concrete wall that consists of two layers of concrete with insulation layer in between. They are commonly used in construction to improve the energy efficiency and thermal performance of buildings. They are relatively lightweight and easy to handle, which can make them a more cost-effective option for certain types of construction projects.

Solid wall: A solid wall is a precast concrete wall that is made of one solid piece of concrete. They are commonly used in construction as load-bearing walls, partition walls, and façade walls. They are easy to install, and can be designed to meet specific requirements such as fire resistance, sound insulation and thermal insulation.

Fire and sound wall: A fire and sound wall is a precast concrete wall that is designed to provide fire resistance and sound insulation. They are commonly used in construction to separate different parts of a building or to create fire compartments. They are typically reinforced with steel or other materials, and can be engineered to meet specific fire resistance and sound insulation requirements. They also provide thermal insulation.

Precast Staircase & Landing

Tribune stair elements: Tribune stair elements are a type of stairway that are typically used in auditoriums, performing arts centers, and other venues that require seating for large numbers of people. These stair elements are designed to provide efficient and safe access to seating areas while minimizing the amount of space required. They are typically wider than traditional stairways and may include features such as risers, treads, and handrails that are designed to improve visibility and accessibility.

Combined stairs & landing: A combined stair & landing is a type of stairway that combines the stair and landing in one element, typically made of precast concrete. They are designed to save space, reduce construction time and increase the aesthetic of the building. They can be customized to fit the specific needs of the building and can be designed to meet specific fire resistance and sound insulation requirements.

Staircase, middle & main landing: A stair, middle & main landing is a type of stairway that typically used in multi-story buildings. It consists of a stair, middle landing and main landing. The main landing is at the top or bottom of the stair, the middle landing is in the middle of the stair that used to change the direction of the stair. They are designed to provide efficient and safe access to different floors of the building. They can be reinforced with steel or other materials and be designed to meet specific fire resistance and sound insulation requirements.

Balconies

Column supported balcony: A column supported balcony is a type of balcony that is supported by columns or vertical structural members. These balconies are typically connected to the main structure of the building through beams or other structural elements, and are designed to transfer the load of the balcony to the building’s foundation. They are generally considered to be a more stable and secure option for balconies as the weight of the balcony is distributed to the columns.

Cantilever balconies: A cantilever balcony is a type of balcony that extends out from the main structure of the building without the support of columns or beams. They are supported by the main structure of the building and are anchored to the building through various connection methods such as ecobox, isokorb, and IC BWS. These balconies can have a sleek, modern look and can be a great option for buildings with limited space.

Ecobox, isokorb and IC BWS that are different types of connection methods used to connect cantilever balconies to the main structure of the building. Ecobox and isokorb are thermal insulation systems that are used to improve energy efficiency and reduce heat loss. IC BWS is a structural connection system that is used to provide structural stability and support for the balcony. These systems are designed to meet specific requirements such as load-bearing capacity, fire resistance, and weather-resistance.
